Carolina (almost) Christmas

29 Dec

North Carolina was part 2 of our 2 week trip to see our families. We started the trip off with an awesome visit with cousins in Raleigh. Yay! Noah had such a big time running around with his cousins, we didn’t mind at all that it was 10:30 pm and they were no where close to winding down. The adults just refilled our glasses and continued the festivities. It was a late night for all of us, but So.Much.Fun!

Cousins!

Cousins!

A party is just not a party until someone breaks out the sitar!

The next day, we drove down to Greensboro to see Jim’s Gran Gran for the afternoon and spent some time visiting with her. Then we followed that with a trip down to Rockingham to stay with Jim’s parents.

They had it looking very pretty for the holidays.

Jim and I got to sneak away to the gym on Sunday (my first time in a whole week). We went during church time (we are a pair of heathens!) so it was not crowded at all. I did a basic strength routine and followed that with a run on the treadmill (yuck) for 3 miles and that was all I could manage. I did do a 2 minute plank. I’m going to attempt a 3 minute one sometime this week.

That evening, The Stevensons hosted their annual Christmas party (a little early on our behalf) with plenty of friendship, fellowship and good food, including Sue’s infamous seafood casserole. I went back for thirds, yes thirds! Everyone seemed to be at their peak of storytelling so it was fun to sit back and just listen – with my glass of wine, naturally.

The rest of the trip was pretty uneventful other than chasing Noah around the creek, a trip up to Southern Pines, playing with toys, opening our gifts (which Grandma already let Noah open half of them) and some fantastic running at the beautiful Hinson Lake – I am now considering running their 24 hour race in September.

Who knew clocks could be so cool? We would run into the living room every time he heard it chime. Exciting stuff!

How do you wear out a toddler? Running in the backyard barely puts a dent in it.

Just needed a moment of peace.

Noah was mesmerized by Uncle Steve's mustache.

I promise we didn't need to take 50 pictures for this 1. Maybe just 10.

When Jim and I returned home, we both remarked that it felt like we were gone forever but yet it didn’t feel like we were gone at all. So weird! Noah traveled like a champ and even fell asleep on the plane. So did mom.

So sweet.

So sweet.
