It was a good running week to not be training for anything right now. Each run was beautiful. So, here I go about to rub it in on how pretty Colorado is (again).
Christmas Cardio with Nina. After opening presents from Santa and a yummy breakfast casserole, Tuesday afternoon we put on our Yak Trax and took off. We got in 6.5 miles in the snow in Highlands Ranch Back Country and it was lovely! I forget how tired those Yak Trax make my feet. Oh well, better get used to it.

I caught a little cold/flu bug so Wednesday and Thursday were out for any form of exercise. Friday, I made it out for my usual neighborhood trails with Stella Nutella. 5.34 miles in 43:25 (8:07 pace).

Saturday evening, I took it to my neighborhood trails again for a sunset jog with Stella for 3.7 miles in 29 minutes (7:52 pace).

Sunday morning, Nina and I ventured out to Waterton Canyon for 14 miles. Our GPS lost us so we didn’t get an accurate read (I know we didn’t run a 5:43 pace like it said we did). But, we did do it in 2 hours. I followed it up that evening with a Candlelight Hot Yoga class. The class is done in candlelight so it’s extra dark and really challenges your balance. Love it. I found out later that Nina was in the class too. I had no idea (it was dark and the class was full); it was probably better that way. We would’ve giggled and pushed each other over, if given the chance.

Fitness wise, I faired pretty well for it being the holidays and having a cold. I do plan on avoiding Lifetime Gym at its primetime hours for a while due to the crazy New Year Resolutioners. My co-worker and I plan to hit our gym at work a few days a week. A friend suggested I take a look at Seal Fit to give those workouts a try. He said it was like Cross Fit on Steroids. I’m not enough of a bad ass to do those, so I will just just pick a few exercises to incorporate into my routine. I will keep you posted on how that works out for me.
I’m still working on my 2013 race calendar. There are a few around here that I would like to do. I’m toying with the idea of a 50K (which season, I don’t know yet). I plan on running in some new states I have never been and possibly visiting some friends, both new and old. Any suggestions on races I should check out?
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
