It’s no secret that majority of my wardrobe consists of spandex and workout gear. I don’t mind this and luckily have a husband who doesn’t mind this either. He knew what he was getting into: little to no make up (mainly because I don’t know how to wear it), hair mostly goes in a ponytail (unless I’ve chopped it), mostly showered, but not always a guarantee. I’m a delight; I know.
Here are a few examples from last week. Very typical of Colorado that one day I run in shorts and then a day later gloves, hat, and 2 layers of clothing needs to happen. In the summer, things obviously look a little different for me. And I do love a good running skirt. I think it is so fun to pass a male in a race while wearing a girly running skirt!
It’s not that I don’t want to look good or cute or whatever a person of my age is supposed to look like. I will just always choose function over fashion. Always. Even when it doesn’t include spandex. I have a job that requires a variety of wardrobe needs. So, it is a nice little fashion balance for me. I can wear skirts and dresses, jeans, and yes, sometimes I will show up in spandex. I think one week last summer I wore a maxi skirt to work everyday – that’s a bout as good as spandex.
I’m heading up to the mountains in Winter Park for this weekend for my work’s 2nd biggest fundraiser: Wells Fargo Ski Cup! It will be an action-packed weekend of ski competition, aprés ski parties, and a whole lot in between. I’m bringning plenty of spandex to try to get some mileage in at 10,000 feet while I am there. I hope the weekend is more of this…
Do you pay attention to what you wear when you are working out?

My clothes affect my mentality. I have an old pair of sweat pants and faded tank that I wear alot…but do wash alot also lol. I look like I’ve been in a fight when I wear it. So when I get to the gym, I fight harder lol. The more I sweat the better it feels.
…the gym is not about being pretty…its about being pretty insane!
Keep doing what you do
I love your first paragraph – you described me perfectly! My husband actually picks out my clothes for me when we go shopping, because I have no sense of style and suck at doing my hair and makeup.
Comfy clothes for the win!
Oh I think it would be worse if my husband picked out my clothes! I just got him off of mock turtlenecks not too long ago.
I just choked on my water I laughed so hard!
I so wish I was kidding but thanks for laughing. I used to laugh at him thinking it would help. I mean, he had one in every color. Gross!
Unfortunately yes. I am the only guy I know that doesn’t work at Lululemon that wears Lululemon, oh well, I am not wearing it for any other reason than fit and fabric. Have fun in the mountains!
I love me some Lulu and think it’s totally hot when a guy wears it. You rock that Lulu, Dom!
Working out is usually done at home in my pjs. It’s just too cold to go outside with small kids and if I get my pajamas sweaty I’ll be more inclined to shower and change out of them at some point. As the mother of a newborn and toddler, this is what I have been reduced to. There’s no way all my cute Nike shorts and tanks would fit right now!
You look cute to me!!
Spoken like a true runner and mother! THANKS!
You are so my twin… down to the minimal make up and ponytail. Love it!
