Some fun little updates for ya.
ONE: I’m in for 2014 Boston Marathon! I was able to register on Friday since my qualifying time was over 5 minutes faster than the qualifying time for my age group (I needed a 3:40 and I ran a 3:32). I was at the airport when registration opened so I stood in line on my teeny little iPhone and registered at precisely 8:01am MST (10:00am EST was the time that registration opened). I was super excited! I still am!!
TWO: I got a new tattoo. I’ve known for quite some time what I was going to do but couldn’t decide if I wanted it on my foot or on my wrist. Ultimately I went with my wrist and couldn’t be happier. I love that I can look down at it and see it. I’m really pumped about it. Here’s the story behind it.
Keep Going is a kind of a mantra for me (in running, in Yoga, in life, you name it). It comes from Winston Churchill’s quote “If you’re going through hell, keep going.” I also knew that I wanted an arrow. I love the meaning behind the arrow. So the story goes is that an arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it is going to launch you forward into something great, so just focus and keep aiming. – I love that!
THREE: A lackluster workout week last week that’s really not worth writing a whole post about. And you know what? It was okay. I’m not training for anything in particular right now, so I need to embrace that down time and not freak out if I didn’t run 10+ miles on Saturday and Sunday. Who cares. But…. this week I will be trying out a couple of different cardio and strength classes at the gym (Yoga Sculpt, Cardio Kickboxing, etc) plus taking advantage of our cool temps and hitting the roads and beautiful Colorado trails.
Speaking of the weather, we are okay here. Denver was hit in certain spots but the crazy flooding happened in the Boulder and Longmont area. The crazy thing that my mom reminded me of was that it was this time 6 years ago that people started to arrive in Estes Park, CO for my and Jim’s wedding (Estes has been hit hard by the flooding and still has people unaccounted for. I think they just opened up the road to get in and out of the town). CRAZY.
I also see random kitchen dance parties to Madagascar’s “I Like to Move It, Move It” in my future (Noah’s new favorite movie and song) and some menu experimenting (poor Jim).
