Just running for me this past week. No strength workouts. No Yoga. No spin class. I love running, don’t get me wrong but man, I love when I can be more well-rounded. I just feel better. But, once again I must remind myself that I am not training for anything and that it is okay if I’m not logging 15 workouts a week (okay, only ONCE did I do that). 15 workouts in one week is rather nuts – I admit it. None the less, I miss my gym time.
Monday- Rest day. It was a travel day for me and boy did I have some fun travel companions… NOT! On my flight from Phoenix to Denver, I had the middle seat (I normally don’t mind) except this time I had a man on my right in his bare feet with them propped up on the arm rest in front of him (eewwww) but then on my left, I had an incredibly drunk/hungover guy who could not hold his poor head up and kept falling on me (smelly, drunk, eeeww).
Tuesday- 4.5 miles. Ran at the Bluffs in the evening once Jim got home and was hoping to get in an hour (8 miles or so) but I lost the light. When did it get dark before 8:00??? Dang it! I didn’t even think to bring my headlamp with me that early. Lesson learned.
Wednesday- 6 miles in 50:03 (8:20 pace). Ran up to Highlands Pointe and back. Took it easy for the first 2 miles then really enjoyed the ups and downs on the trail. Temps are cooling off and it felt awesome.
Thursday- 10 miles in 1:27 (8:40 pace). Ran the trails all throughout Lone Tree at lunch. Took it easy. There was nothing spectacular about this run, I just wanted to get in a mid week 10 miler and I was glad to make it happen.
Friday- rest day. Took Noah to the Denver Zoo. Phew. Long day.
Saturday- 11 miles in 1:38 (8:50 pace). Ran with the ladies at Bear Creek Lake Park up to Mt Carbon. This is the site of the Bear Chase Trail Race (and Endurance Festival) this coming weekend and I don’t see how they are going to be able to have the race here. There will have to be some serious course rerouting due to all the flooding. The website says the race is still on but wow there is lots of water everywhere!
That evening we enjoyed an impromptu get together in our front yard with the neighbors. Jim grilled. I passed around my favorite No Bake Oatmeal Bites and refilled wine glasses while the kiddos took turns riding bikes, pushing baby strollers and rolling trucks down the driveway.
Sunday- Rest day. I really needed a workout but it just wasn’t in the cards. Sunday was my and Jim’s anniversary and we celebrated with our smoke alarms going off at 5:00am, pulling Noah out of bed and waiting outside in our driveway until the fire department arrived to clear the house (everything is fine). Noah did not want to go back to bed so I let Jim sleep while Noah and I had playtime in our pjs all morning plus cinnamon rolls -YUM. I knew I would collapse if I sat still so I then decided to clean out our garden for an hour or so. I ran some errands but by lunch I was pretty beat. So nap time/movie time is was for the rest of our rainy afternoon looked like. The alarms went off again at 6:00pm and 10:00pm (it was glorious).
